11 Comfort Upgrades For Your Sleep Therapy

We know that getting comfortable with your CPAP therapy is often a challenge for many CPAP users. We also understand that achieving a certain level of comfort is extremely important in order for your sleep therapy to be effective. There are several products available that can provide solutions to some common issues that CPAP users encounter. We have found that the following items can make a real difference in the quality and overall comfort of your sleep.

1. Heated Humidification
CPAP users often report having dry nasal passages or a dry throat from their sleep therapy. The problem may be compounded when your air conditioning or heater is on, which removes moisture from the air. A dry swollen throat may even increase the number of apneas you experience and could change the amount of pressure needed for effective therapy. Adding humidification to your CPAP therapy can significantly improve your comfort level and therapy effectiveness. The warm, moist air provided by a heated humidifier gives gentle relief, making it easier to breathe and sleep in comfort. Most machines have a matching integrated heated humidifier available. If you need assistance finding the correct humidifier for your CPAP machine, please email or call us at 1-800-356-5221.

2. CPAP Moisture Therapy Cream
Another common problem CPAP users experience are skin irritations, such as dryness, cracking, and chafing, from the use of their CPAP mask. Petroleum-based products should not be used with CPAP masks since most are made of silicone. Petroleum breaks down the silicone on CPAP masks causing damage and a shortened life span of the mask. The solution is CPAP Moisture Therapy Cream. This cream is an emollient containing Aloe Vera and Emu Oil with Vitamins A and E. It has no petroleum-based products and will not damage your CPAP gear.Apply to the affected areas as often as needed. If using nasal pilows you should apply the cream to the outside and inside of the nares or nasal passages.

3. SnuggleStrap CPAP Mask Strap Covers
Have you ever woken up with red marks or lines on your face caused by the straps on your CPAP headgear? The SnuggleStrap is a wonderful solution that can really help eliminate or reduce those red marks or lines on your face and make wearing the mask more comfortable. Made out of a soft, breathable, fleece material with Velcro connectors to secure them to your mask straps, the SnuggleStraps are very popular with our customers for a good reason. The SnuggleStraps may be used on the top straps, bottom straps, or both.

7. Pillows Designed For CPAP Users
Are mask leaks and pain preventing you from finding a comfortable night's sleep? Have you tried every mask available and still experience leaks? It could be that your pillow is creating the problem and not your CPAP mask. If you are using a traditional pillow it is likely that your mask is not being positioned properly as you sleep. If you or a loved one can't find comfort with a traditional pillow you should consider one of these specially designed pillows for CPAP users. Great for side sleepers.

8. SnuggleHose CPAP Hose Covers
We featured the SnuggleHose Story a few months ago in our newsletter. Their products have several comfort providing benefits for the CPAP user. The SnuggleHose helps prevent rainout or water condensation in your CPAP hose and mask. It makes the hose feel good to the touch and eliminates the 'medical' look of the CPAP tubing. Additionally, it reduces noise from your hose rubbing up against furniture. The SnuggleHose comes in several colors and is made of a soft fleece material. Which would you rather rub up against? Soft fleece or cold plastic?
